KiJana Carter Voted Biggest RB Bust

FoxSports.com has been compiling the biggest NFL Draft busts by position and voted KiJana Carter, the top pick in the 1995 NFL Draft by the Bengals, as the biggest running back bust ever. I think that's a tad unfair.

Sure, Carter gained 1,129 yards ... in his career, from 1995-2004. But dude tore up his knee in the Bengals first preseason game in 1995 which forced him to miss that entire season. In 1996, technically his rookie year, he rushed for just 264 yards, but did score rushing 8 TDs [and another one receiving]. He played just three more seasons in Cincy, with stops in Washington and New Orleans that flanked years he didn't play. He retired after the 2004 season. I've been in several arguments about if a guy suffers a horrible injury right out of the gate, does that mean he is worthy of bust status. I think so, in a certain context. Carter never got a chance to show his talent.

There is also the little problem of that draft being a rather busty one anyways. What back should the Bengals have taken other than Carter? Tyrone Wheatley? Napoleon Kauffman? James Stewart? Rashaan Salaam? The best backs that came out of that draft were Curtis Martin and Terrell Davis ... but nearly every team missed the boat on those guys. Martin went in the 3rd round; Davis went in the 6th. Of the overall Top 10 of that draft, only Steve McNair, Joey Galloway and Kevin Carter had any true staying power.

Cincinnati already hailed the #4 worst QB bust with Akili Smith and #3 worst wide receiver bust with Peter Warrick.
