Plaxico Burress Should Definitely Get Rental Car Insurance

Maybe the Giants should think about getting Plaxico Burress one of those fancy security details the Cowboys have for "Adam" Pacman Jones.

Not so much because Burress can't walk two blocks without needing a lap dance, but because he has trouble doing the everyday stuff like showing up for work and, according to the New York Post, paying his bills.

Specifically, Burress stiffed a rental car company out of almost 800 bucks this summer.
Khoury Alternative Claims Management [is] a San Antonio-based third-party administrator trying to catch up with the Giants receiver about some damage he did to a rental car. Burress returned a Suburban on June 2 to Epic Car and Truck Rental in Clifton, N.J., with scratches and dents in the bumper. He paid $996.95 for the rental but owed another $1,759 in damages. Burress dropped the car off after hours and never informed anyone of the damages.
Maybe he left a note on the windshield but somebody stole it. It could happen ... or not.
"A lot of people do that," said Randy Harris, president of Khoury Alternative Claims Management. "Because of the damage they just split."
Epic tried to collect the money through Allstate, the insurance company Burress listed on his rental contract. One problem: Burress made it up -- Allstate doesn't have a policy for him. There's more, of course:

Plaxico Burress: 'Everybody Doesn't Have to Like Me'

Plaxico Burress basically has one true road he can take with all this suspension hullabaloo -- either accept the punishment, apologize to teammates and fans, and get ready to play once he's reinstated, or he can just tell people that he's just a football player and they don't have to like him. Yep, I'm going with B.

Burress said in a conference call with the media that he has some teammates he is close to, and they contacted him about the suspension, but other than that, nobody should really care.
"I know the people that care about me a lot. My job is to go to work and catch footballs Everybody doesn't have to like me. I don't have to be friends with everybody. Everybody has a role to play, everybody has a job to do. My job is to get on the field and catch footballs."
Well, actually, your job is to go on the field and catch footballs as well as not ditch out on a workout day without a phone call. That is what is called "being on a team" and unless Plax is thinking about getting some tennis lessons fairly soon, these rules will stick around.

Eli Manning Doesn't Need Plaxico Burress, Giants Blowing Out Seahawks

The New York Giants are playing without their top wide receiver today, thanks to the one-game suspension handed down to Plaxico Burress.

Quarterback Eli Manning would like everyone to know he's just fine without his favorite receiver.

Manning went into the locker room at halftime with video game numbers: 15-of-18 for 224 yards, with the Giants whipping the Seahawks 27-6. Manning has completed his passes to eight different receivers. Domenik Hixon is leading the way with four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown.

It would be nice to think that Burress is sitting at home watching this and thinking to himself, "Wow, my teammates are playing great without me. I guess that means I'm not above the team and need to stop ignoring team rules." I have my doubts about that, but I have no doubt that Manning has become one of the league's elite quarterbacks.

Looking at the NFL's Undefeated Teams

There are six NFL teams that have yet to lose a game this season. All are sitting at 3-0 (except the 2-0 Baltimore Ravens). Some of these teams entered the season with high expectations; Some are kind of surprising.

Here is a quick look at the undefeated teams and if they can keep it up.

Dallas Cowboys

Why they are here: They trot out the NFL's top offense. Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and Marion Barber have all been their usual dominant selves. Now they are getting production from guys like Felix Jones and Miles Austin. On the defensive side of things, they are quite stout but still aren't elite.

Why it could all go away: As scared people are that Sarah Palin would be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, Cowboys fans are scared that they are a Romo injury away from being the Houston Texans. Dallas' eggs are all in Romo's basket and they are trusting that massive offensive line can fully protect him. Also, Dallas plays in the brutal NFC East where anything can happen.

Outlook: Dallas will be in the playoffs and should be the odds-on favorite to get to the Super Bowl. The issue is the postseason, where history hasn't been on their side. Romo has yet to win a playoff game, Owens' teams haven't performed well in the postseason and the organization hasn't won in a decade. Despite how great Dallas could be during the season, people will stay skeptical when January rolls around.

Injuries to Watch: Week 4

Every week when the dinner bell rings on Friday evening, we'll be here to provide you a comprehensive injury report for the NFL weekend to follow. As always, please feel free to chime in with opinions, updates, and rumors in the comments.

The Atlanta Falcons

Michael Turner - After making the injury report last week with an ankle injury, Turner is now probable with a shoulder injury. He should be fine as he practiced full speed Thursday, but it might not be a bad time to start thinking about selling high on Turner.

The Baltimore Ravens

Willis McGahee - In a controversial development, the Ravens are speculating that the Browns pulled a "Sweep the leg Johnny" on McGahee and purposefully inflicted harm upon him. McGahee continues to struggle with his swollen, cut eye and although he is listed as probable, he has not made much progress. The game is Monday night though, so hopefully he'll be ready, but this is worse than it sounds.

The Buffalo Bills

Roscoe Parrish - Parrish is definitely out for four to six weeks with a thumb injury. While this is not material for many people, it may open the door for James Hardy to gain some playing time and for Lee Evans to put up a couple of his sporadic breakout games.

The Carolina Panthers

Jonathan Stewart - Stewart was limited in practice Thursday to rest his foot injury, but he should be there come Sunday.

Predictably, Drew Rosenhaus Will Ask Union to Reinstate Supsended Plaxico Burress

A day after the Giants suspended Plaxico Burress for two weeks, the wide receiver and his agent Drew Rosenhaus have requested "an immediate hearing with the NFL Players Association to get Burress reinstated and not have him miss any games."

Apparently, to hear Rosenhaus explain it, there was a "lack of communication" between his client and the Giants. Which is one characterization, I suppose; the organization claims that Burress failed to show up for work on Monday, didn't call to inform anyone of his plans, and didn't answer his phone. Yes, I'd say that's a lack of communication.

But Rosenhaus feels it's not reason enough to suspend Burress, who will lose $235,294 as a result just a few weeks after signing a shiny, new contract.

Plaxico Gets Laxico, Giants Suspend For Two Weeks

As reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Giants' dominating wide receiver, Plaxico Burress, will be absent for the next two weeks after coach Tom Coughlin suspended him for insubordination.

"The New York Giants will not have the services of their most electrifying offensive weapon when they play Seattle after their bye week. WR Plaxico Burress will miss the game, not because of injury, but rather insubordination.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Giants have suspended Burress for two weeks for failing to show up for work on Monday and not responding to several phone calls by the team to explain his unexcused absence both Monday and Tuesday."

Proving what we already knew - that Michigan State breeds ghetto wide receivers - Plaxico apparently abused the fact that he just inked a big contract and felt that he could get away with one. It also fuels the side of the barstool debate that Plaxico was never really injured, but that he just hasn't really felt like practicing over the past couple of seasons.

No, in all seriousness, we do not know the circumstances of Plaxico's truancy, so there may well be a good reason for his missteps. We will keep you posted on any new developments.

In terms of fantasy, this could be a lot a worse for Plax owners, because the Giants have a bye next week, thus he will really only miss one game versus the Seahawks. Still, one missed game for a star wideout can present problems as the bye weeks commence. Further, it might actually present a solid opportunity to trade for Burress on the cheap.

Giants Suspend Plaxico Burress 2 Weeks

New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been suspended for two weeks for insubordination.

Jay Glazer reports:
FOXSports.com has learned that the Giants have suspended Burress for two weeks for failing to show up for work on Monday and not responding to several phone calls by the team to explain his unexcused absence both Monday and Tuesday.

The star wideout, who was just rewarded with a new lucrative contract three weeks ago, was slated to meet with team officials early this morning to explain why he would've violated team rules and failed to return several phone calls explaining his whereabouts.

The excuse apparently was not good enough and head coach Tom Coughlin told the team this morning of the predicament and subsequent punishment.

The suspension means Burress will miss two weeks worth of pay as well as next week's game vs. the Seahawks.

Neither Burress nor anyone in the Giants' front office has commented publicly.

Fantasy Value Machine: Fast Willie Goes Down, Mendenhall Slides Up

Value Machine checks out the overall perceived value of fantasy players. If you want to commit a fantasy felony, you'll sell high on the up arrow guys and buy low on the down arrow guys.

We caught a glimpse of vintage Willie Parker in week one, and have since seen a steady decline. The points -- we'll round and generalize, as many leagues use different scoring formats -- have gone from 30 to 10 to 2. And now he's hurt. He will not play in week four. He didn't score a TD in the past two weeks after putting a three-score hurtin' on the Houston Texans in week one. Even if he comes back, you have enough evidence to worry about durability and week one being fluky (for what it's worth, he did have a 100-yard game in week two ... but that was on less than four yards per carry).

In light of this, Willie Parker is your top this week.

On the flip side, your top in value is Rashard Mendenhall. Fast Willie received 53 carries in the first two weeks, so you know the Steelers like to run the football. Mewelde Moore becomes the de facto backup to Mendenhall, and he's nothing more than a third-down back. Expect Mendenhall to get 20-plus touches per game while Parker sits. Also, Mendenhall's value will never be higher, because people love the "new guy" starter ... and Mendenhall's likely to get stuffed all night against the Ravens this week.
