Don't Jump on the Brady Bandwagon

It's all too easy to fall in love with Tom Brady, isn't it? He's got it all right now: the suave looks, the model girlfriend, and the best receiving core he's ever had at his disposal.

"Brady and Moss and Stallworth! Imagine the possibilities!" - Almost Everyone

Sure, I hear the hype. That doesn't mean I'm buying into it, though. If you're thinking of drafting Brady this year, there's a good chance that you're going to have to take him in the late second round, but that would be a hasty decision to make. It's something my mom would do if she played fantasy football. Not only would you be inhibiting the strength of your running backs and receivers, you might even be passing up a potential stud in the process.

Here are the top three reasons why you shouldn't jump on the Brady bandwagon early in your draft:

          1. Marc Bulger is available in the third or fourth round: Bulger leads a more impressive offensive attack in St. Louis -- in his second year working with offensive mastermind Scott Linehan -- and could very well put up even better numbers than Brady. In each of the three full seasons (or close to it) that Bulger has played, he's exceeded 20 touchdowns and a QB rating over 90. Also, he recently signed a six-year extension, ending the possibility of a holdout.

          2. You can platoon two quarterbacks instead: If you can't get Bulger there, you can still have a solid quarterback situation by drafting two sleepers and platooning them. Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler, Matt Leinart, and Chad Pennington are quarterbacks whose values will likely exceed their draft-day positions. Leinart and Rivers have schedules that match up favorably this year, so look to pair those two.

          3. The offensive game plan may not be fantasy-friendly: Brady only threw five touchdowns over his last six games last season. Granted, the receiving corps this year make a big difference; but with the addition of Adalius Thomas to a potentially dominant defense, the Pats may not always choose to air it out. When the weather gets brutal in the winter, we could see a bunch of grind-it-out affairs.

Does Brady have a bad shoulder this week 1? The NFL injury report 9/5 said he had full participation in practice (shoulder). What does that mean?

how can you not like brady this year?????? look at the numbers with a what he had worked with over the last few years, then think of the receivers he's got this year!!!!

Don't pick Brady! Are you on drugs? The fact that the defenses must watch for five good receivers is enough to make the running game good. The balance is there.
If he's healthy, he'll have his best year.

New England has created a model team for any era, and Brady's at the helm. The force is strong in this one.. very strong indeed!!
