Chiefs Star's Fantasy Stock Falling

Larry Johnson is threatening to hold out of training camp, and his fantasy stock is dropping as a result. Johnson is set to make $1.7 million dollars this season -- the final year in his rookie deal -- and the Chiefs are unwilling to pay L.J. big money in a long term extension. If his contract issue still isn't resolved once training camp rolls around, Johnson could very well slip out of the top three picks in some drafts.
The Chiefs have the right to slap the franchise tag on Johnson after this season, so he doesn't have much negotiating clout in the matter. However, it wouldn't be shocking to see L.J. try to pull off one of the biggest holdouts in NFL history.
After all, this is the same player that prompted former head coach Dick Vermeil to say "take the diapers off," when the two butted heads back in 2004.
There was already early doubt in labeling Johnson a fantasy stud this season due to a heavy workload last season -- where he amassed 416 carries -- and an unseasoned quarterback in Brodie Croyle possibly taking over the starting job after Trent Green's departure.
Also consider that there are serious concerns about the offensive line due to the retirement of 12-time Pro Bowl guard Will Shields -- leaving a huge hole that the Chiefs might not be able to fill.
Taking Steven Jackson instead with your second overall pick has become a much more intriguing option.
