Davidson's administration claims to have offered Sweet-16 transportation, housing and tickets to ALL students requesting same.
Actually, the school has provided these to only about 300 students (who were, at 5 pm Thursday, so notified by email).

Nonsense is the report that only 300 students have "signed up" .

Newspapers across the country, as well as a national broadcast, today proclaimed the school President's announcement that the Board of Trustees would fund the excursion for all students who wanted the opportunity.

Now the claim is that the brains behind one of the finest academic institutions in the nation failed to confirm bus-availability prior to making the offer.

Oops.

High school seniors across the nation, making decisions about next year's college attendance, read and saw news of the school's "largesse".

After all the good publicity, turns out: it's just not happening.

Say what you want about how good they are; they play with more heart than any team I have seen out there. I am a lifelong Carolina fan and just ask them what they think of Davidson and they will tell you how tough this team is. Never say they dont belong. They may lose tomorrow, but they will not go down without a fight and they earned the right to be there. Its easy for people to call it luck or a fluke or a hot streak. Bottom line is that you have to beat the team in front of you to advance. And winning is always a matter of staying in the game even when you get behind. you never give up. Go Davidson. NC is proud of you.

I'm an Appalachian State fan and It's wonderful to see what the Davidson Wildcats have accomplished so far. It's about time that someone in the SoCon could finally get out of the first round. It has been very frustrating seeing our teams get eliminated right out of the gate.
How far can the Wildcats go? It depends on how focused they can remain - and they are also going to have to stop digging themselves into holes and having to rally to get out of it. They won't be able to do that all the time.

The Southern Conference is referred to as unheralded--what do they need to do? Appalachian St. beat Michigan in football---Wofford beat highly regarded Purdue in basketball among other things. And their athletes graduate!
