    Who's Best Expert Analyst?

    Posted: 2007-11-08 12:55:48
The best TV sports announcers don't just describe the action taking place on the field, court, rink, course, track, etc. They bring it to life using a combination of insight, wit and enthusiasm. So based on these criteria, who's the best sports announcer on national TV? Help us decide. AOL Sports put together four brackets worth of the best TV sportscasters currently in the game. Vote for your favorites in each of the brackets, then check back each week to see who advanced. Keep voting to help your favorite voice win the overall title of television's Best Sports Announcer!

CHARLES BARKLEY (1) vs. JOHNNY MILLER (8)
The Skinny: This one's the battle of the outspoken personalities. Everyone knows how much the hilarious Barkley likes to "tell it like it is" during TNT's Inside the NBA, but Miller made his name as an outspoken golf analyst who has no problem calling out players for choking.

JOHN MADDEN (2) vs. JIMMY JOHNSON (7)
The Skinny: This one's the battle of the former coaches. Madden's unique (BOOM!) way of describing NFL games (POW!) has endured for nearly three decades. Johnson, meanwhile, is a little more polished - or at least his hair is - but he still provides insightful studio analysis for FOX.

RON JAWORSKI (3) vs. TROY AIKMAN (6)
The Skinny: This one's the battle of the former quarterbacks. "Jaws" is a bona fide football nerd who studies as much game film as any of the NFL's top coaches, while Aikman is a surprisingly astute and candid observer of the game given how many blows to the head he took as quarterback for the Cowboys.

KIRK HERBSTREIT (4) vs. TERRY BRADSHAW (5)
The Skinny: And this one's the battle of the pretty boys. OK, not really. Herbstreit's kind of a homely dude. Again, kidding. Herbstreit might have All-American looks, but he knows the game of college football. Bradshaw, meanwhile, is a larger-than-life personality whose Southern charm and boundless enthusiasm has made him one of football's most popular broadcasters.

Kirbstreit would be ok if he was not so pro Big 10 . Each year he gets worse with the teams he picks as powers. This yeah he picked PSU to be a power in the Big 10 and Morelli would be a force. Both were not even close.

The worst announcers are the one that insist on talking when someone else is talking.
The human mind can only hear one at atime.

Madden is the worst of everyone

Don't you have a category to fit the worst of anything for Chris Berman and Dick Vitale?

Where's Clark Kellogg? He's not known as "Mr. March" for nothing.

I also miss Joe Theismann and Paul Macguire on Monday night football. ESPN please listen to your loyal fans . If it ain't broke, don't fix it, Michael Irvin, Tom Jackson and Ron Jaworski pre-game and Theismann Macguire calling the game. Please bring them back

I would like to have seen ESPN's Tom Jackson on there. He's a guy that was on the "Orange Crush" Bronco teams of the 1970s and 1980s. Been on ESPN since 1987 with Chris Berman on NFL Primetime. Those men know how to present a football to an NFL audience with the highlights every week. NBC's Football Night in America is cool. But ESPN NFL Primetime was better. I already know b/c NBC has the rights to Sunday Night games now. But ESPN ruled prior to NBC as far as Sunday Night Football highlights went.

Amen on Billy Packer! He's the biggest ass in any form of sports. I hate that guy. If he doesn't like a team he shows it through his arrogant comments and he'll never give them credit. I think the Tarheels run to the National Championship in 2005 almost killed that *******. It's painful sitting through any Packer broadcast!

I know about the trouble off camera and that is why he is no longer with ESPN, but Harold Reynolds is a great baseball analyst. I loved listening to him call the College World Series. One of the big networks should pick him up.
