    Who's Best Studio Host?

    Posted: 2007-11-08 12:04:43
The best TV sports announcers don't just describe the action taking place on the field, court, rink, course, track, etc. They bring it to life using a combination of insight, wit and enthusiasm. So based on these criteria, who's the best sports announcer on national TV? Help us decide. AOL Sports put together four brackets worth of the best TV sportscasters currently in the game. Vote for your favorites in each of the brackets, then check back each week to see who advanced. Keep voting to help your favorite voice win the overall title of television's Best Sports Announcer!

BOB COSTAS (1) vs. MICHAEL WILBON (8)
The Skinny: While he can come across a tad smug, Costas is arguably sports' first "intellectual" broadcaster. Wilbon, meanwhile, might be best known as Tony Kornheiser's comedic foil on "Pardon the Interruption," but his overall likeability has arguably surpassed that of his fellow Washington Post columnist.

JAMES BROWN (2) vs. GREG GUMBEL (7)
The Skinny: After starring at both FOX and CBS, the unsung Brown has quietly become the unofficial studio voice of the NFL. As for who's on the other side of this matchup? Oh, just Mr. March Madness, that's all.

BOB LEY (3) vs. RICH EISEN (6)
The Skinny: While he's a capable news anchor, Ley is probably best known for his in-depth sports reporting on ESPN's "Outside the Lines." Along with Dan Patrick and Craig Kilborn, Rich Eisen is one of SportsCenter's best-known anchors. He's now the man behind the mic for the popular NFL Network.

ERNIE JOHNSON (4) vs. JOHN ANDERSON (5)
The Skinny: As funny as Charles Barkley is, "Inside the NBA" would not work without Johnson's dry wit at the center of the show. Anderson, meanwhile, takes deadpan sarcasm to a new level as one of ESPN's top SportsCenter anchors.

(Voting for the first round will conclude on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at which point the leader in each pairing will advance to the second round, with second-round voting concluding on Nov. 20, etc. The four bracket winners will then advance to a "Best Announcer" semifinals to determine the overall winner. Also check out our "Worst Sports Announcer" tournament, and vote for the worst Play-By-Play Announcer, Analyst, Studio Host and Sideline Reporter.)

Stuart Scott is witty and fun to watch...The only that bugs me is his cock eyes. But he is my favorite.

When Stuart Scott appears on the screen on ESPN, the best he can do is not be as annoying as usual.
